Best Director Office of Graduate Diversity Initiatives UF Graduate School RE: Reminder: UF Office of Graduate Diversity Initiatives Funding Opportunities 2020-2021 Funding Opportunities DIVERSITY ENHANCEMENT AWARD This award is available to departments for the purpose of providing additional stipend support to aid in the recruitment of highly sought-after underrepresented minority PhD and MFA applicants. This award provides up to $5,000 per year for 4 years of additional funds to increase the total stipend, thereby making the department's offer more competitive. This award must be coupled with an initial stipend offered by the department and cannot be coupled to any other Graduate School funding. This award should be offered during the recruitment phase and not after the student is preparing to enroll. The program is designed to increase the number of African American and Hispanic faculty in the state of Florida. The program provides funding to Ph.D. candidates in the advanced stages of their dissertations. Students on fellowships or assistantship are not eligible. The award provides up to $15,000, and up to 5 credit hours of in-state tuition and fees. Successful applicants may receive funds over the course of Summer and the following Fall Semester or Spring Semester and the following Summer. It provides financial support for 3 credit hours in the Fall and Spring and 2 credit hours in the Summer of in-state-tuition and the help of a structured retention program under the UF Office of Graduate Diversity Initiatives (OGDI). UF is one of more than 40 universities in the FAMU Feeder Program aimed at increasing the number of FAMU students in graduate programs. UF offers five fellowships every year to qualified FAMU Feeder students who have been admitted to a Ph.D. or a terminal MFA degree program. Each fellow receives a stipend, in-state tuition, fee waiver and health insurance for up to 5 years for a Ph.D. and up to 3 years for a terminal MFA degree. UF provides a limited number of research assistantships for McNair Scholars who are entering a Ph.D. program at this institution. This assistantship program provides a stipend, in-state tuition, fees, and health insurance for up to 4 years for a Ph.D. or up to 3 years for an MFA degree. Participants teach two courses per year at SFC and assist in its recruitment and retention of minority and underrepresented students. The program provides a stipend of up to $15,000 for nine months, in-state tuition, fees, and health insurance for fall-spring semesters.
