Research Associate Position at Indiana University

The IU Office of the Vice Provost (OVPR), Bloomington, IN, seeks a research associate to serve as the behavioral research administrator for the Associate Vice Provost (AVP) for Social Science Research. The incumbent will manage administrative operations for multiple federally-funded research projects, including multi-departmental, multi-campus, and multi-site studies. Coordinate and collaborate on the development and submission of grant proposals, assist with negotiation of contracts with research partners, and manage reporting and accounting requirements; has primary responsibility for coordinating the project team. Oversee budgets and project expenditures; reconcile project budget accounts with fiscal officer. Prepare budgets and reports for projects, including audit, progress report, and closing grant report preparation and submission. Participate in relevant research activities as assigned by the AVP.

Act as primary liaison for coordinating partnerships with other IU units and campuses, including managing logistics and communications for any multi-departmental, multi-campus, multi-site research studies. Has significant interaction with internal and external research partners. Assist with publicity efforts and work with campus media units in dissemination of research findings and notices of awards. Coordinate research dissemination efforts.

The incumbent will create and standardize policies and operating procedures pertaining to the management of multiple research projects. Maintenance of records, files, and study data will be accurately and meticulously maintained to ensure compliance with study protocol and all regulations. Develop solutions to complex problems that impact the timely and accurate conduct of behavioral research. Consistent and ongoing education and review of regulatory changes and study compliance requirements is required in order to mitigate risk to both the Department of Sociology as well as Indiana University.

Coordinate AVP activities and project meetings. Operate as liaison between AVP and Sociology staff. Coordinate with OVPR and Sociology staff regarding travel arrangements and reimbursements.

Minimum Qualifications
Must have a Bachelor’s degree preferably in sociology, psychology, economics, public health, public administration, or related health sciences field; Master’s degree preferred. Must have at least 3 years of research administrative experience. Familiarity with Indiana University internal software systems for research administration is preferred, as is experience using external software systems such as, eRA Commons, and Fastlane. The successful candidate will have excellent oral and written communication skills, organizational skills, and the ability to develop and maintain rapport with professionals and research partners; the ability to work as a team player, maintain accurate and organized records, and work with a high level of independence. Must have proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and citation management software.
