Dear SOCNET,

The below announcement concerns a PhD opening at the University of Groningen. Would you please forward this to any/all persons you think might be interested?

PhD topic: "Understanding the emergence of connectivity science in practice"
  ( https://www.rug.nl/about-us/work-with-us/job-opportunities/?details=00347-02S0007K1P   )

This opening/award is part of a newly funded Marie Skłodowska-Curie Innovative Training Network (ITN) project, entitled the i-CONN project (see https://sites.durham.ac.uk/iconn-network/the-project-2/). The i-CONN project consists of 10 Universities and three partner organizations across Europe and brings together scientists from Social Science, Astrophysics, Computer Science, Ecology, Geomorphology, Hydrology, Neuroscience, and Systems Biology.

This particular studentship pertains to social networks and interdisciplinary learning, with practical applications to other empirical contexts found in the i-CONN network (e.g. physical, ecological, or coupled systems/networks). The student will be housed in the Faculty of Spatial Sciences, at the University of Groningen, but will also have secondments in other participating universities (e.g. Durham).

Just a note:
Even though this is funded by the European Commission, researchers of any nationality within the first four years of their career can be recruited to an ITN
(e.g. students completing their Masters, typically, who do not already have a PhD) .
