Subject: Message from ACS- Animals on Maintenance Hold

*Please see below message from ACS*

Dear researchers,

Thank you for working closely with ACS in the past few weeks as ongoing experiments were brought to a close and remaining animals were kept on a “maintenance hold”.

Currently, we are unsure of how long the pandemic closure will last, but recognize that research needs may be in flux as the closure continues. Specifically, PIs may have separated breeding animals at the start of the crisis, or animals on hold may be aging to a point where their proposed research purpose may no longer be feasible.

If any additional breeding maintenance or research work needs to be done with your current animals on hold in the next few weeks (beyond what has been previously approved) to prevent the loss of essential animals lines or loss of research animals, please send Drs. Karl Andrutis ([log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>) and Laura Eurell ([log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>) an e-mail with the specific work that needs to be done and include the facility access (duration, frequency) that will be required.

As a reminder, no new research and no additional breeding for research needs (beyond essential line maintenance) should be proposed. Facility access should be limited to 1-2 times per week for ~1 hour each time for any proposed work, with special consideration given to maintaining social distancing recommendations.

Thank you, Irene
