Looking for a post-doctoral researcher to join a productive team of social and computer scientists pioneering the understanding and improvement of the health of public information ecosystems.

The Media Ecosystem Observatory ( is recruiting one post-doc to independently drive a research agenda focused on misinformation, media, communications, and politics. MEO has curated and continues to collect large-scale datasets on social media, traditional media, and public opinion.

We encourage those with the following competences to apply:

- medium to advance R and Python skills
- working knowledge of data visualization
- comfort working with cloud-based computing
- demonstrated track record of producing cutting-edge research for publication
- An MA or PhD in computer science, political science, communications, or other related discipline

The MEO team is based in Montreal and Toronto but remote work will continue for the foreseeable future. French-language ability an asset. The objective of MEO is to develop an evidence-based model for information ecosystem health, in order to both better understand the online harms and digital threats to democracy, and to safeguard against it. MEO is a collaboration between Taylor Owen, Associate Professor and Director if The Center for Media, Technology and Democracy at McGill, Peter Loewen, Professor and Director of the Policy, Elections, and Representation Lab at the University of Toronto, and Derek Ruths, Associate Professor and Director of the Network Dynamics Laboratory at McGill.
