Relax & Restore: Yoga for Stress Management

In this group, you will learn to notice and respond to your body’s cues so that stress does not have to build to overwhelming levels to be noticed.  You will also learn a variety of techniques to balance your nervous system, many of which can be implemented without having to stop and get on your yoga mat.

Centering in a Circle

Lake Alice

The first 8 UF students who register for this workshop will be invited to stretch with mindful movements and stillness in a safely distanced circle at Lake Alice.  Alice Walker speaks the truth when she says, “In nature, nothing is perfect, and everything is perfect. Trees can be contorted, bent in weird ways, and they’re still beautiful.”

Working on Wellness

Reitz Union Amphitheater

Join GatorWell for outdoor games and talk about wellness. For example, you will play giant Jenga and answer a question about an area of wellness-focused on stress, time management, or sleep. Students can also register to participate in mindfulness activities. GatorWell will repeat two strategies in case students can’t join the first offerings.

The concept of Walking meditation for mindfulness will be introduced. Participants will be invited to practice the strategy.

Diaphragmatic Breathing

Zoom in to this webinar to see how to counter the body’s fight/flight response with the simple, easy-to-learn technique of diaphragmatic breathing. This all-purpose skill can assist you with managing anxiety and stress in a variety of situations. Just a few minutes a day can have a positive impact!

Get Moving with the InMotion Center

In this presentation, you will learn about the free services provided by RecSports at The InMotion Center, including Fitness Assessments, Personal Training Trial Sessions, Equipment Orientations, and Welcome Walkthroughs. Participants will have the opportunity to assess their current mobility and agility from home and receive feedback from fitness professionals.
