An article that I wrote, "Increasing Students' College-Level Vocabulary by
Collaborating with Faculty," may be of interest to you. It can be accessed
at https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__www.jstor.org_stable_42802420-3Fseq-3D1-23metadata-5Finfo-5Ftab-5Fcontents&d=DwIBaQ&c=sJ6xIWYx-zLMB3EPkvcnVg&r=tkAACBgX69zH9b8QGasKbhgWu8w0Arh-QhL0xf_Y95k&m=0msDP8oWDRGwSPYQLuSF3SQ3vtcUykNQ1PgRuGcUrhk&s=OTXtbQuRSXCwv-QvJEkSBscJ4un_VzDMkhb241ZRuuQ&e= .

I've worked with many freshmen who didn't fully understand what they were
assigned to read because of their limited word knowledge. Some students
also have inaccurate or incomplete lecture notes because they don't
understand some of their professor's words. And limited word knowledge may
hinder students' ability to fully and clearly express their ideas in
writing.

My article suggests ways that learning assistance professionals can work
with faculty to help students acquire a college-level vocabulary.
