I imagine our university will migrate back to more in-person options this fall, though it remains to be seen if we can permit drop-in tutoring, as in the past, or if we'll need to keep things by appointment only. We have already been providing some in-person
tutoring, on a case-by-case basis, and we could have expanded that a bit more here at the end of this month, but I've decided to not introduce any more change to our lives and just keep things as they are until the end of the school year!
Our Computer Science tutors report that online tutoring works really well, and they almost prefer it more than in-person, since the screen-sharing function is so helpful. The Writing tutors are also comfortable with keeping tutoring online, if need be. However,
it's an entirely different story for our Math and Science (Biology/Chemistry) tutors, who report (and feedback from tutees confirms) that in-person tutoring is really more ideal, at least for those subjects.
So, I'm trying to be patient, but I anticipate needing to design some sort of hybrid system. It will be a nightmare, logistically, at first, but looking forward to making it happen. At the end of the day, the most important thing is that tutees have access
to tutoring, be it online or in-person. I will do all I can to provide services for students, to the best of my ability, within the confines of procedures the Administration has laid down.

CAUTION: This email originated from outside the Walla Walla University email system.
For folks who imagine that their campuses will be back in person in the fall–especially those at smaller colleges with the majority of students on campus–I am curious to hear if you are planning to continue providing access to remote tutoring. This is
something that I am currently weighing for our drop-in center, and would love to know what others are thinking.
Thanks in advance for sharing.
