For content tutors, we do Level 1 is a 1-credit independent study and Level 2 as a 2-credit independent study. We had to choose the independent study format to be able to create multiple training schedules so that as many tutors as possible could actually enroll. Both courses are under the Education department and are 300-level ones. All run concurrently with the practice. Level 3 is not credit-bearing. It is paid. Tutors meet with me regularly, mentor junior tutors and prepare training modules and other projects. All three levels are taught by me.For Writing Tutors, all 3 levels are done through 4-credit courses taught by our Writing Center Assistant Director who is also a part-time faculty with the English Department. Both classes are hosted under the English Department and are 300-level ones.Best,Ira~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ To access the LRNASST-L archives or User Guide, or to change your subscription options (including subscribe/unsubscribe), point your web browser to http://www.lists.ufl.edu/archives/lrnasst-l.html To contact the LRNASST-L owner, email [log in to unmask]Hi Roberta—
Our writing tutors are trained in a one credit course led by a literature/writing professor and they take it in the fall of the year they start tutoring. No certifications associated with the course. They can also take it for zero credit, but they do need to take it. This is for writing tutors only, unique to their specialty.

Hello LISTSERV,
Can you tell me if you offer a credit bearing course as a forum to train your tutors, coaches, mentors, etc?
If so, please share some of the details such as credit or non, how much credit is awarded, is it the only training you offer for that position, does it run concurrently with the practice (tutoring, etc.)who teaches it, is it CRLA certified, and any other info that might be relevant.
Thanks in advance,
Roberta
Please stay healthy & safe.
