Hi Beth,It is not mandatory here at Niagara University. According to my experience working with international students, I think it will be very helpful if it is mandatory, particularly for the lower-achievers/ struggling students, and students at transition (i.e., first-year and international students.). Sometimes, students don't know the supporting resources at all.Best of all,

As a retention effort, JCC is exploring the mandating and/or "normalization" of tutoring and study skills support (and possibly other functional area supports). Are your services mandated or normalized with any population or course? We are looking specifically at high D/F/W courses as well as reworking our processes with students on probation, but all ideas are appreciated.
To this point, embedded tutoring is the only similar effort we've put into place.
Thanks for your ideas!
