Dear Colleagues,

We would like to invite you to please consider submitting a paper abstract to the session on Measures for Temporal Social Network Analysis at the INSNA Sunbelt Conference 2022, to be held 12-16 July in Cairns, Australia in hybrid format (

Organisers are: Eric Quintane, Martin Wood, and Lucia Falzon

Measuring network positions and characteristics has been key to the development of social network analysis. The increasing availability of time stamped relational data creates opportunities to rethink existing network measures in order to take advantage of the temporal information embedded in the data and generate novel insights. For example, information on event or inter-event durations and the sequential order of interactions is useful to capture differences of network activity over time, to characterize network processes and their speed, or to explore how the role of individual actors changes over time. Measures for temporal network analysis are based on the premise that networks of social interactions are highly dynamic, fluid structures that represent continuously unfolding social processes operating over multiple time frames. This session aims to create a space to present recent developments in the measurement of temporal social networks and more generally developments in research on networks of social interactions.

Abstracts (200 words max) are due 6th Februrary 2022.

Kind Regards,
Session Organisers
