Applications are invited for the full-time Academic Professional
position of Coordinator of Learning Assistance Programs, University
Learning Center.
 
Description:
Administrative coordination and supervisory responsibility for
Learning Assistance Programs of the University Learning Center (ULC),
including tutoring and Supplemental Instruction, tutor training, and
learning strategies workshop.
 
Examples of Typical Responsibilities:
Coordinate and implement a tutor training and certification program.
Assist in the development and implementation of a ULC program of
Supplemental Instruction targeted on courses where freshman retention
rate is low. Coordinate and implement a program of learning
strategies workshops. Recruit, hire, train, supervise and evaluate
tutors. Coordinate and implement a marketing plan for Learning
Assistance programs.
 
Minimum Qualifications:
Master's degree required.
Three years full-time experience in coordinating tutoring services at
a post-secondary institution. Three years counseling or equivalent
related experience at a post-secondary institution.
 
Knowledge and Skills Required:
Excellence and demonstrated experience is required in: learning
strategies literature and practice; tutor training and supervision;
Supplemental Instruction; collaborative learning; program
coordination; program marketing; supervisory and organization
skills; communication skills; word processing; teaching
learning strategies; interaction with faculty, deans, directors, and
department heads; ability to work with students of diverse ethnic
backgrounds.
 
Salary: $26,000 - $28,000, depending on qualifications.
