Subject: ANNOUNCEMENT OF ADMINISTRATIVE VACANCY
 
 
 
Lake Michigan College is seeking a person to provide leadership and
vision in building a model Transitional Studies Program serving in excess
of 1,000 diverse students and employing 7 faculty and staff in addition
to adjunct faculty and tutors.  The Director will develop, modify and
evaluate all transitional studies programs and services in collaboration
with faculty and support staff.
 
DUTIES:  Responsible for providing overall direction, including review,
development, coordination and evaluation of all transitional studies
activities, including math, reading, writing, assessment, advising and
tutoring.  Responsible for developing and monitoring the At-Risk and
Transitional Studies budgets, reporting outcomes, and tracking of
transitional students.  Teaches at least one transitional studies course
in both Fall and Winter semesters, in assigned instructional area.
Reports to the Dean of Arts and Sciences.
 
QUALIFICATIONS:  Master's degree required; in Developmental Reading or
Developmental English preferred.  An MA in Reading and/or English, with
extensive education and training in developmental studies, will be
considered.  Minimum three years teaching experience in developmental
education required.
