SPECIMEN LEARNING OUTCOMES FOR DEPARTMENTAL ADAPTATION
               FOR SUBJECT, PROGRAMME AND COURSE OBJECTIVES
 
At all levels of university study, students should become able
to
 
   1  plan their work, study independently and use relevant
      resources
 
   2  work in groups, making appropriate and effective oral
      contributions and presentations, listening, responding
      to different points of view and negotiating
 
   3  produce written work which demonstrates an understanding
      of appropriate academic conventions (by written work is
      also meant mathematical and other scientific
      formulation)
 
   4  structure and develop arguments orally and in writing
 
   5  identify, find, record, organise and manipulate
      knowledge, differentiating between concepts, data and
      models
 
   6  begin to develop critical frameworks and understanding.
 
In addition, at the higher levels of university study,
students should become able to
 
   7  write and speak critically (and self-critically)
 
   8  appropriately select, organise, analyze and synthesise
      complex material
 
   9  structure, develop and defend a complex argument
 
   10 receive and make use of criticism and advice.
