I am in the process of restructuring our peer tutor program for the fall
semester, and would like some input from other folks on ideas,
problem-solving, suggestions, etc. Right now, I serve as peer tutor
coordinator -- but that is only one of the hats I wear. I also teach
remedial English, do outreach for referred clients, and supervise the
support services lab. Per the suggestion of one of our lab managers, we
are now considering pulling the peer tutor program out of our support
services lab and giving it space of its own. Our program runs smoothly,
is certified through CRLA, and has a solid reputation on-campus. I am
interested in making it even better -- toward that end, I would
appreciate feedback on training (I never seem to hit the mark here) and
supervision of tutors -- how are training and supervision structured in
your institutions (especially the two-year colleges)? I would also
appreciate any descriptions of programs that could be sent through
snail-mail. Thanks for the feedback!
