To Georgine who commented on her program's tutor training which focuses on
how to learn and not on the content to be learned.  She asked, "at
what point is content-driven training the responsiblity of the academic
department or the responsibility of the learning center?"

I agree with you, Georgine, on the focus for training tutors to be specific
to learning how to teach the discipline.  After all, why are our faculty
here if not to teach the specifics of the discipline?  In fact, our faculty
would be quite disturbed if we were to presume to teach the specifics of
the course -- any course.  Our program is seen as an academic support
service, but we are very clear with faculty, student staff, and student
users in that we are the process specialists and all information relevant
to the specifics of the content of the courses resides with faculty, their
teaching assistants and the academic departments.
