ACADEMIC COUNSELOR

The Northern Illinois University Student Support Services
(SSS) Program in the Office of Educational Services and
Programs (ESP) has a vacancy for a nine month Academic
Counselor position.  Student Support Services is a federally
funded TRIO program.

The Academic Counselor reports directly to the Director of
Student Support Services.   The counselor is responsible for
providing academic counseling and related supportive
services to SSS participants, participating in divisional
planning, and serving as an ESP representative when
necessary.  A thorough understanding of Northern Illinois
University's educational policies and programs is highly
desirable.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:  A master's degree in Counseling or related area
with counseling training and/or work related experience; a
minimum three (3) years work experience with adolescents,
high school, or college students.  Excellent writing and oral
communication skills, and applied computer skills.

Preferred:  A minimum of two (2) years professional work
experience with TRIO or other related programs; work
experience that relates directly to the servicing of culturally
and academically diverse college students.

SALARY:
        $18,756 per nine months, plus fringe benefits.
