The United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado
invites applications
for the position of Assistant Reading Program Director, Student Services
Division.  The Reading Program is experiencing extraordinary growth
after its first year, which gives us the opportunity to announce this
additional position.  This position is being offered through the Air Force
Academy's Visiting Professor Program.


Description of duties include:  (a) teaching reading skills courses to four
to five sections of cadets per semester, (b) meeting with cadets to
develop individual reading improvement plans, (c) developing additional
curriculum for additional reading courses, (d) reviewing software for use
in the reading program, and (e) researching student progress.


Minimum qualifications include:  Masters degree in Reading or
equivalent discipline, college level experience teaching, evidence of
research and scholarly activities, and knowledge of and experience with
current educational technology.  Preference will be given to individuals
possessing terminal degrees in reading or related disciplines.

Assignment Status: Visiting faculty members will be temporarily
assigned to the Federal government and will remain employees of their
institutions of higher education or government agencies for most
purposes.  The period of assignment will normally be for 10 1 months (
15 July through 31 May) with a maximum possible tour length of two
years.  The Dean of the Faculty may approve requests to deviate from
established assignment lengths.
