UNITED STATES MILITARY ACADEMY
READING AND STUDY SKILLS PROGRAM DIRECTOR: This position is responsible for
the general supervision of the services provided by the reading and study
skills program.  These services include delivery of two courses; supervising
student Peer Tutoring Program; coordination of collaborative teaching with
academic departments; coordination and supervision of learning assistance
workshops; maintenance of instructional equipment materials and facilities;
development of working relationships and communication with the Academy
faculty and staff represented in 13 academic departments; and supervision of
the collection of data and documentation.  Candidates for this position will
be evaluated according to the following factors: 1. Advanced degree (Ph.D.
or Ed.D preferred) in Education and/or Reading Instruction. 2. Must have at
least five years' experience teaching learning skills, reading or related
areas at the post secondary level. 3. Experience in curriculum development
for an academic program, 4. Ability to hire, train and supervise teaching
faculty, staff and peer tutors, 5. Experience and familiarity with recent
theory in reading methodology, current reading assessment techniques and lab
based teaching methods.  Must have excellent oral, written and interpersonal
communication skills and a commitment and willingness to work with a team.
