DIRECTOR OF THE LEARNING RESOURCE CENTER

Saint Leo College, located 30 miles north of Tampa, Florida, invites
applications for a full time, 12-month administrative position as
Director of the Learning Resource Center. Saint Leo College, founded in
1889, pursues a vision as a leading Catholic teaching university of
international consequence for the twenty-first century.  8,000 students
are enrolled at the main campus and at fourteen regional centers
throughout the Southeast and in
Madrid, Spain. Saint Leo's mission emphasizes balanced growth of mind,

The Director reports to the Associate Vice President, Academic Student
Support Services and functions as a part of a team on the home campus
that coordinates academic advising, the first year program, academic
skill development, tutoring and services to students with disabilities.
The Director is responsible for supervising the Coordinator of the
Writing Center, overseeing the Mathematics Learning Laboratory,
coordinating the peer tutoring program, managing the academic warning
system, conducting academic skills workshops and providing personalized
services to developmental and at-risk students.  The director also will
have responsibility for finalizing development of and directing a
program for conditionally admitted first year students, including a
summer preparatory program.  Teaching developmental writing and/or
reading a possibility.

Qualifications include a minimum of three years of program development
and administrative experience in academic support services, expertise in
assessing needs of and developing individual educational plans for
at-risk students, excellent written and oral communication skills and a
proven ability to work collaboratively with faculty in meeting students
academic needs. Teaching experience and working knowledge of computer
assisted instruction highly desired. Ph.D. in counselor education,
student personal administration, developmental education or an academic
discipline preferred; Masters with extensive experience considered.
